delivery.com & NYC DOT bring you SaferHood
delivery.com CEO Jed Kleckner and DOT Commissioner Janette Sadik-Khan announcing SaferHood in Union Square
We deliver your neighborhood. Now, we’re bringing you a SaferHood.
We’re excited to announce that we’re teaming up with the New York City Department of Transportation to bring you SaferHood – a new program that will help keep you, your local delivery people, and the streets of New York safe.
New laws in New York City, require that commercial cyclists, like your local delivery guy, be equipped with certain safety materials, including a reflective vest, bike lights and a bell. The DOT has been working hard to educate business owners about the new laws and is beginning to enforce the laws this year.
To help the DOT in their efforts to make NYC safer, and to make sure our merchant partners are able to abide by the new laws, we’re kicking off SaferHood by donating bike safety kits that will equip 1500 commercial cyclists in NYC. Each kit includes a bright orange reflective vest, a set of bike lights, and a bike bell.

We’ll be working with the DOT to distribute the kits to cyclists throughout NYC at bike safety forums in the coming months. For the full schedule, check the DOT website.
SaferHood is just one of the ways we’re working to help our merchant partners, and get involved in your neighborhood. We can’t wait to do even more. Look out for a delivery person wearing delivery.com SaferHood gear in your neighborhood soon.
