Acquisition of New York based online laundry scheduling and ordering platform strengthens delivery.com’s strategy to bring customers neighborhood essentials, including food, wine, spirits, groceries and now fresh laundry.

NEW YORK, June 4, 2013 – Delivery.com, LLC, a leading online service provider connecting customers to their favorite local businesses, today announced that it will acquire the key assets of Brinkmat, LLC, including Brinkmat.com, New York’s leading site for free local pick-up and delivery of laundry, dry cleaning and tailoring. The acquisition builds on delivery.com’s strategy to empower the neighborhood economy by enabling customers to order online from local businesses.

We look forward to expanding Brinkmat.com’s reach across delivery.com empowered neighborhoods nationwide.”

Brinkmat.com provides an online sales and marketing presence to local businesses, giving them the potential to reach even more customers with an easy to use web-based interface. Brinkmat.com will continue operating as a separate website initially, and is planned to become integrated into the delivery.com experience later this year. Based in New York, Brinkmat was established in 2012 and has built a growing network of New York City based cleaners. Brinkmat co-founders, Tim O’Malley and Jay Winters, are joining delivery.com as senior members of the technology team.

“We developed Brinkmat.com to eliminate the need for busy New Yorkers to lug heavy laundry bags to the cleaners while saving customers and merchants time by simplifying the ordering and payment process to a couple of clicks online,” said Brinkmat co-founder, Jay Winters. “At delivery.com, we look forward to extending Brinkmat.com’s presence across the country to offer laundry, dry cleaning and tailoring services from local merchants in the neighborhood.”

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Are you part of Generation Delivery? If you love delivery.com, you probably are, and your delivery habits may be helping small businesses.

Today, delivery.com CEO Jed Kleckner, shared his thoughts with Huffington Post on Gen D and how it is helping encourage growth among local businesses.

“Today’s get it now society wants more than just a cool phone with instant access to news, friends and family – they want dinner served up too. Mealtime planning has shifted with the generations. In the 1950s, TV dinners became the convenient meal while takeout gained traction in the 70s. In the 1990s, speedy delivery became popular at pizza joints while in the Internet era, online ordering started gaining traction with techies and early adopters. Today, on-demand delivery is common for busy professionals and urbanites with a couple of clicks on a web site or through the tap of an app. Delivery helps drive revenue for local businesses, such as restaurants, across the U.S. by reaching more customers in the neighborhood. This new delivery focused mindset makes up Gen D — the delivery generation.”He shares stories from delivery.com’s very own merchant partners about how they’ve seen a shift towards delivery and how it has improved their businesses.”

The article, published on Huffington Post’s Small Business Blog, also includes stories from delivery.com’s merchant partners about how they are noticing a shift in how customers order and how delivery has improved their businesses.

“While larger chains are struggling with the shift from next day to same day, local businesses are already profiting from Gen D. Hoboken, New Jersey’s Biggie’s Clam Bar has been family-run for four generations. Today, delivery is a substantial 35 percent of their business mix and they have regulars who order delivery as often as others come into the restaurant. “We get online orders from business pros leaving their Manhattan office asking for dinner to be delivered when they arrive home,” said Steve Ranuro, great-grandson of founder Joseph “Biggie” Yaccarino. “We have a personal connection with the folks who order online and find that they will order a wider selection of entrees off the menu while many of our in-store regulars stick with the burger or clams they always eat.”

Happy Earth Day!

Today while you’re recycling, riding your bike instead of driving your car, and doing other things that are great for the environment, don’t forget that you can also go green by ordering delivery. Here are a few tips for how place an eco-friendly Earth Day order on delivery.com.

Go green at checkout

We make it easy to create less waste when you order delivery. The next time you order, just check off these boxes to make sure you don’t get napkins, utensils, or condiments that you may not use.

Order organic

Eating organic foods is good for the environment and good for you too. To find a restaurant near you that uses organic ingredients, just enter your address and the keyword “organic.” Here are just a few of the restaurants with organic items on their menus to get you started:

The Organic Grill

Liquiteria

Terri Vegetarian

111 Lex Wine & Liquor (They deliver organic wine!)

Showdogs

Pick it up

If your delivery usually comes by car, Earth Day is the perfect day to try placing a pick up order. Order from your usual place, just make it for pick up instead of delivery. Then, skip the car and take a stroll or a bike ride to pick up your order.

Remedy Diner is a classic New York City diner – open 24 hours, serves up a mean sandwich, and great for getting breakfast anytime – but what makes Remedy special is that this Lower East Side spot is one of the most popular places on delivery.com People ordering from this local diner, and it’s not hard to see why. The food is always delicious and you can get whatever you want, whenever you want.

To learn more about one of delivery.com’s favorite spots, we sat down with Peter, the owner of Remedy Diner. Read on to find out what people order the most at Remedy, crazy delivery stories, and how Lady Gaga likes her eggs.

When did you open Remedy Diner and why a restaurant?

I opened in 2007 and my family has owned restaurants long before I came on the scene.

So, you’ve been in the restaurant industry for a while. What were some of your first responsibilities?

My dad and uncle still own a restaurant on the Upper West Side. It’s been around for over 50 years and I was doing different jobs there – cashier, delivery, fixing things, and pretty much getting the feel of how a restaurant operates.

Wow. 50 years. They were doing deliveries back in the day. What’s the name of the place?

Yea, I would do deliveries once and while. It’s called 3 Star Coffee Shop.

And by you working there growing up, it helped you to realize that you wanted to be in the restaurant industry?

My family has been involved with restaurants in one way or another and I wanted to start my own business when I was ready.

Why did you choose Remedy Diner as the name of your own restaurant?

When I was scoping the neighborhood out, I realized that there are a lot of young people going out at night, working late and roaming the streets. I wanted to have a name that would help with their ailments like being hungover or the stress of working in the city. Remedy is open 24 hours a day to remedy people’s issues when it comes to food and comfort.

Being open 24/7 must be tough sometimes.

Being open 24 hours means I need to be on top of my team and inventory. We don’t use canned or processed products so it makes it more difficult but more rewarding at the same time.

What’s the most popular dish?

Pancakes. I think it’s because I use my grandma’s recipe and they are made from scratch.

What’s your favorite dish at Remedy?

The New York Strip Steak.

What’s the most memorable experience your delivery team has shared with you?

They don’t tell me much, but I heard a story about a blonde girl answering the door completely naked.

Yikes. What about celebrities – does anyone famous come to Remedy?

Lady Gaga. She came in with her Monsters at like 4 am.

No way! What did she order?

Eggs over easy.

Classic. So are you thinking about expanding?

I’m actually opening up a spot in Queens. It’s a diner and closer to home so I can spend time there while things get settled.

Do you order delivery when you’re home or do you cook?

I would love to cook more often but I’ve been so busy. I order delivery like 95% of the time.

We hear you. You sound busy! If you could open up any kind of business anywhere in the world, where and what would it be?

I would love to open a jet-ski business in the Caribbean

Really? That’s a lot different than a diner.

Yea, I would get to relax, enjoy the scenery and have some fun.

Sounds nice. Good luck with the new location in Queens, and let us know when you have that jet-ski rental squared away. We’ll be your first customers.

Try out this neighborhood favorite for yourself – we recommend the pancakes, but we hear Lady Gaga likes the eggs. Order from Remedy Diner on delivery.com.
