Merchant of the Week: Two Boots

Walking down the street, it’s hard to miss a Two Boots pizzeria: the Bleeker street location beckons you with bright yellow signs, wild lettering, and “PIZZA SLICE” written in giant letters on either side of the main entrance, like an announcement that you’re about to pass through a portal into another world.  And you are–because though Two Boots may have originated in NYC, this is not the place to go to for your typical New York slice.  These specialty pies – with names as funky as Two Boots itself – take their inspiration from Cajun cuisine. And the best part of all?  These totally original pizzas can be delivered straight to your door using!

Cleopatra Jones & Bayou Beast

Three popular pies from Two Boots are the Cleopatra Jones, the Bayou Beast and the Mr. Pink (told you the names are funky!).  The Cleopatra Jones pie is covered with sweet Italian sausage, roasted peppers, onion and mozzarella.  The Bayou Beast has a spicier bite, with BBQ shrimp, crawfish, Andouille (Louisiana sausage), jalapeños and mozzarella.  We know the ingredient combinations may sound a bit strange, but the Bayou Beast is one tasty pizza.  And the Mr. Pink (a pizza named after a Reservoir Dogs character!) comes with marinated chicken, plum tomatoes, fresh garlic, and mozzarella.

The pizza aficionados out there probably want to know, But what about the crust? The crust is just as unexpected as the toppings; Two Boots uses cornmeal on the bottom (whereas most New York pizzerias use flour).  The result: the bottom of each slice has a great crunch, while the upper parts remain light and fluffy.

Five NYC Two Boots locations will deliver this Louisiana-meets-Italy (these two places being the “boots,” after all) pizza magic straight to your home or office.  We think a pizza party is in order!
