Merchant of the Week: S’MAC

A skillet of cheesy deliciousness from S’MAC

This great city of ours is known for extreme specialization and choice. Forget about Mexican or Italian restaurants – we have entire eateries dedicated to one singular item, like chocolate cake, meatballs, banh mi and, of course, mac and cheese!

We’ve been fans of S’MAC, the East Village restaurant that specializes in mac and cheese since they first started dishing out their delicious, cheesy creations, but now we have one more reason to love them. S’MAC now offers a vegan mac and cheese menu (yep, you heard us right) and it’s available on!

To keep the delicious taste, but ditch the dairy, S’MAC is using substitutes like coconut milk, rice flour, potato flour, palm oil, organic palm shortening and Marmite. The  pasta eatery also offers gluten-free pasta. So now matter what you’re diet – vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free – you know longer have to worry about missing out on S’MAC.

Vegans, this could be your next bite!
Vegans, this could be your next bite!

If you’re already a fan of S’MAC, you know they go wayyy beyond your garden-variety mac and cheese (which they have as well). In addition to the vegan pasta, check out the Cheeseburger (cheddar and American cheese and ground beef), Cajun (cheddar, pepper jack, andouille sausage, green pepper, onions, celery, and garlic), and Parisienne (Brie, figs, roasted shiitake mushrooms and fresh rosemary) pasta.  Sizes range from “Nosh,” “Major Munch,” and “Mongo,” and can also be prepared with reduced lactose and vegan.

So the next time you’re craving some comfort food (Bad breakup? Long day at the office? Just in the mood for something yummy?), check out S’MAC’s menu on And remember, vegans, this goes for you too!

  • You left out the fact that it takes them on average over an hour and a half to deliver and often appear to forget that you placed an order (especially online). This isn’t the right place if you’re looking for fast and reliable delivery, but I have to admit that their mac n’ cheese is pretty amazing.

  • We’re sorry about that! Next time your food takes a while to order, give our Customer Services line a call and we’ll help you out.
