Eating at Harvest in the Square 2010

Last night Harvest in the Square returned to Union Square for its 15th year! The annual event, hosted by the Union Square Partnership, is a celebration of the community and cuisine of the Union Square area and, as always, there was plenty to celebrate.

Local restaurants, like Union Square Cafe, Nuela, ABC Kitchen and Hill Country were there offering tastes of some of their most delicious dishes, while New York-based breweries and wineries kept everyone’s glasses full. With our offices just a few blocks from Union Square and some of our favorite neighborhood restaurants on the bill, we made sure we were there to check things out. Keep reading for our a look at what we tasted and our complete gallery of photos from the night.

Big Daddy’s burger and shake pumpkin fit perfectly into the harvest-themed event.
The crowd enjoying their eats in Union Square.
Nuela’s salmon ceviche with green apple had us itching to try out the rest of the ceviches on their menu.
Wildwood Barbeque won for best presentation with their whole hog, which they were serving up on sliders.
ABC Kitchen’s heirloom tomato bruschetta was one of the best bites of the night.
Another ceviche – this time octopus from Black Duck.
‘Wichcraft served some of their signature sandwiches.
The week-old Hill Country Chicken brought their Texas Handroll.
While the original Hill Country stuck with a classic – ribs.
Shrimp from Dos Caminos.
Junoon, an Indian restaurant, doesn’t open till October. After tasting their Apricot Reshmi Kebab, we can’t wait to try it out.
Sweets came courtesy of L.A. Burdick Handmade Chocolates.
And Stand’s much-talked-about toasted marshmallow milkshake.
