At Big Daddy’s Diner in NYC, the Coffee Shop Grilled Three Cheese comes with Vermont Cheddar, American and Swiss cheeses on thick hand-cut marble rye bread. Three times the cheese, three times the deliciousness!

Rye House brings the standard sandwich to a whole new level with the Truffle Grilled Cheese, which combines Midnight Moon goat and fontina cheeses and comes with a salad of arugula, mushrooms and sunchoke.

Manhattan Belgian restaurant Petite Abeille has some great grilled cheese sandwiches. Go for the classic Croque Madame or Croque Monsieur, or try something new with the Croque Hawaiian.

You can’t go wrong with a grilled cheese sandwich at a diner. Moonstruck Diner does the sandwich justice with the Grilled Cheese Deluxe, served with bacon, tomato, fries, coleslaw and a pickle.

In Brooklyn, No. 7 Sub puts their own twist on the grilled cheese with their very own Cheese Sub. The sandwich features Cana de Cabra, a type of goat cheese, with broccoli sauce, fried chickpeas and pickled red onions.

Grilled cheese on a waffle? Waffle & Wolf, the Brooklyn spot that serves almost everything on a waffle, says yes! Their Mozzarella, Tomato, Olive Oil and Basil sandwich served on a regular or buckwheat waffle, will blow your mind.

Cafe 50’s, Los Angeles’ ode to the classic 50’s diner, wouldn’t be complete without this classic sandwich. Order the Grilled Cheese Sandwich, which comes on sourdough bread and can be topped with bacon or ham.

At LA spot Mozzarella, it’s really all about the cheese. For the ultimate grilled cheese, check out their 3 Formaggi Sandwich, a grilled panini with goat cheese, fresh mozzarella, provolone, basil and balsamic vinaigrette.

Chicago restaurant Li’l Guys specializes in sandwiches. They may not have a plain grilled cheese (this place is a little too creative for that), but they do have a grilled cheese-esque Hot Ham & Swiss sandwich, which sounds just as delicious.

Is a cheesesteak a type of grilled cheese? When the sandwiches are as good as those from Frak’s Steak & Co. in Philladelphia, we’re willing to say yes. Try the classic Cheese Steak or the Black & Bleu Steak, which comes topped with bleu cheese.
