Manhattan Belgian restaurant Petite Abeille has some great grilled cheese sandwiches. Go for the classic Croque Madame or Croque Monsieur, or try something new with the Croque Hawaiian.

Cafe 50’s, Los Angeles’ ode to the classic 50’s diner, wouldn’t be complete without this classic sandwich. Order the Grilled Cheese Sandwich, which comes on sourdough bread and can be topped with bacon or ham.
At LA spot Mozzarella, it’s really all about the cheese. For the ultimate grilled cheese, check out their 3 Formaggi Sandwich, a grilled panini with goat cheese, fresh mozzarella, provolone, basil and balsamic vinaigrette.
Chicago restaurant Li’l Guys specializes in sandwiches. They may not have a plain grilled cheese (this place is a little too creative for that), but they do have a grilled cheese-esque Hot Ham & Swiss sandwich, which sounds just as delicious.
Is a cheesesteak a type of grilled cheese? When the sandwiches are as good as those from Frak’s Steak & Co. in Philladelphia, we’re willing to say yes. Try the classic Cheese Steak or the Black & Bleu Steak, which comes topped with bleu cheese.
