Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone who was affected by Hurricane Sandy. This unprecedented storm has impacted countless numbers of people and businesses in communities along the East Coast, and we sincerely hope that all of you and your families and friends are not only safe but also able to begin a return to daily routines.
Along with the many devastating images we have all seen over the past few days, we are also inspired by the kindness expressed and generosity shown by so many of you. We are so proud to see communities band together and lend a hand during this time of need. We have seen restaurants handing out food, neighbors creating charging stations on their front stoops, and volunteers stepping in to provide assistance and comfort to those in need.
Delivery.com is a member of the same communities you live in and in which our merchants run their businesses, so it was imperative we did our part. Public transportation lines that bring New York, New Jersey and Connecticut residents to New York City every day have been completely cut off from downtown Manhattan, forcing thousands of commuters from areas like Brooklyn to take alternative bus lines across bridges to get to work. So, this morning several members of our team working in collaboration with one of our New York City merchant partners, Hanson’s Restaurant, handed out thousands of free bagels and cups of warm coffee to commuters as they waited patiently in the early cold hours to board buses across the Brooklyn Bridge. We hope that this small act brings a sense of normalcy as we all continue to cope with the effects of Sandy. You can see a few pictures below and more on our Facebook page.
One way each of you can help is by donating your Delivery Points to charities in our Charity Network, such as City Harvest, which have organized relief efforts specific to Hurricane Sandy.
We look forward to seeing Delivery.com customers and businesses bounce back, and we will continue to be here to help support those efforts.
