Last Saturday I was out and about in Hollywood with my mom and needed to pick up something to eat before we headed home. I jumped on delivery.com, found a place that was less than a mile away, and ordered.
District 13 is a gastropub restaurant that offers fabulous craft beers and high-quality burgers and sausages. Also included on the menu is an amazing array of tasty sides and appetizers. Since I picked up our food, I got to see what a great location they have. It’s incredibly open with a great relaxed atmosphere. And everyone we encountered who worked there was friendly and knowledgeable.
After all the walking around, we grabbed our food and couldn’t wait to dig in. We started with the Sweet Potater Tots that came with two dipping sauces. We chose the bleu cheese and aioli pesto mayo. These little guys were amazing. They were about half the size of a standard potato tot and incredibly crispy. Like little tots of happiness. The dipping sauces totally complemented the flavor of the sweet potato as well. My mom and I both agreed that we could have ordered five bowls of them and it would have been a great meal.
We didn’t order five bowls, but we weren’t disappointed in the least with what we did choose. My mom ordered the Crab Cake BLT. Yes, all those words on one Brioche bun. The crab cake was an explosion of flavors. It seriously could have stood totally on its own, but the bacon and tabasco remoulade made it out of this world good. The onion rings on the side were perfect. The batter was a beautiful crispy dark brown and the onions were the perfect thickness.
I like to get the house specialties when I order at a restaurant, the items they’re known for or put their name behind. So when I saw the D13 burger, I knew that’s what I wanted. Especially when I read what it included! This burger is also served on a Brioche bun, and is topped with an Angus beef burger, smoked Gouda, mustard aioli, caramelized onions, bacon and arugula. This flavor combination blew my mind. The onions were mouthwatering, the bacon was thick, and the aioli was divine. I thoroughly enjoyed every perfect bite.
I would recommend District 13 to anyone who appreciates high-quality touches to great American food. Or anyone needing piles of Sweet Potater Tots in their life.
