It’s never too early to start planning for the weekend, especially if those plans include avoiding the work crowd with guiltless delivery and obscene of amounts of boozy beverages. And there’s no better way to celebrate than with great friends, hilarious stories, and (hopefully) no spontaneous tattoo trips.
Movie-Themed: I love throwing a party regardless, but it’s always fun when you have a theme. Choose a classic film and plan the menu around it. Ashamed that you’ve never seen the Godfather before? Get some Spaghetti Carbonara delivered and enjoy the Best Picture. Or go foreign and watch Amelie accompanied by some fabulous French food. Crepes can be sweet or savory so you can get them delivered for dinner, dessert, or both! If you’re craving southern food, watch Fried Green Tomatoes, Steel Magnolias or Sweet Home Alabama. Fill your table with pulled pork, macaroni and cheese, coleslaw and corn on the cob.
Wine Tasting: Host a palate expanding evening by serving a few small courses accompanied with different wines. Don’t worry, you won’t have to lift a finger. You can start by ordering crackers topped with goat cheese and bowls of seasoned nuts with a pinot grigio. Next, serve a Caprese Salad of mozzarella, basil pesto and tomatoes with a chardonnay. After that, try a French onion soup with a merlot. And lastly, serve a dessert of berries and chocolate with a pinot noir.
Favorites Dinner: Have every friend bring their favorite food or cocktail. Whether it is homemade, takeout or store-bought, it’ll be fun getting to know each other’s tastes a little better by experiencing what your friends enjoy most. Some party throwers like to put out a menu for everyone to sign up for different courses so you don’t end up with too many appetizers or desserts, but I think for a fun night in, who cares? Keep it a surprise for everyone and don’t sweat it if everyone brings cupcakes and wine. Because honestly, is that really a problem?
So whether you have a few friends over or a full house, make it a great night with delivery!
