Waldy’s Wood Fired Pizza & Penne serves some of the crispest, flattest, most aromatic, most creative, and most elliptical pies in New York City.
Fortunately for their midtown neighbors, the smell of the wood burning oven extends as far as their expansive delivery zone. When the pies are delivered, the aroma comes with them. when the pies appear at your office, those tantalizing smells will be wafting in the air, so order enough for your coworkers. To do otherwise would just not be fair.
By combining high quality ingredients with creative topping combinations on a uniquely crisp elliptical (oval orbit) crust, Waldy’s embraces traditional pizza components while defining its own. I recommend getting one traditional pie and one not-so-traditional Waldy’s signature pie.
The traditional Margherita blends both fresh and low moisture mozzarella cheeses for a rich and creamy flavor with a savory aftertaste. You might want to keep a glass of water nearby to pair with the salty goodness. This pie features tomatoes in two forms: a tangy crushed tomato in the sauce and sliced cherry tomatoes scattered throughout. Garnished with a sweet accent of fresh basil cut daily on the premises, the Margherita is a true homage to its Neapolitan ancestor on a Waldy’s crisp flatbread.
My new Waldy’s favorite is the Sweet and Hot Sausage with Red Pepper. This savory-sweet masterpiece hits you from every angle and satisfies even the largest appetite. The firm crisp underside holds up despite the weight of the heavy toppings.
If you are sharing with a friend, I suggest that both of you get creative, because the many choices make the selection process fun. Braised Lamb, Clams, Broccoli Rabe, Chicken and Bacon with chipotle peppers are a few of the many unique flavor combinations offered by Waldy’s. On a whim, I opted for the Clam with Garlic, Crumbs and Ricotta white pie. Without sauce or mozzarella, this non-traditional choice is ideal for high quality creamy ricotta cheese lovers or folks looking for a tomato alternative.
The slices with the most lemon were the best. Friends of mine swear by the braised lamb. I will try that next time. Given that I got 20% off using Delivery.com, next time might just be in a few minutes. A great deal for a great meal.
