Too Much Booze Last Night? Here’s What You’re Probably Eating Now.

The dreaded hangover. Hey, it happens to the best of us. And sometimes when you’re staring at the ceiling with a pounding head, parched mouth and achy everything, there’s no better pick-me-up than a quick delivery. We looked back over some of the bigger drinking days from the past year to see how a bit of booze affects the next day’s deliveries — anything ordered between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. The results were surprising… and yet oh so predictable.


Turns out that after giving our livers a workout, “healthy” choices aren’t at the top of our lists. Orders like salads and juices were down 43% compared with a regular, clear-headed morning.

The biggest boost: bagels were up 43%. More people ordering a bacon-egg-and-cheese to meet the day at 1 p.m., perhaps? No judgments here.

Diner deliveries saw a spike too, with orders like omelettes and bacon going up by 28%. Our favorite trend, though: pizza orders were up 8% on booze-soaked mornings. If there’s one thing we learned in college, it’s that nothing helps a hangover like gooey, greasy, glorious pizza.

In all seriousness, the only way to really cure a hangover is to eat a big meal and down plenty of water before you start drinking. And don’t drink like there’s some kind of beer shortage (there’s no beer shortage, is there??). Once the damage is done, though, all you can do is mumble to yourself “I’ll never drink again” while putting in that delivery order. Because no matter what time it is, a bacon-egg-and-cheese just sounds sooooo good.
